Fudo Myoo - Fantastic kabuki scene of the Buddhist deity Fudo Myoo surrounded by swirling flames, staring over his shoulder with a fierce grimace. He holds a sword upright in one hand to strike down non-believers and a rope to bind them in the other. He is accompanied by his two heavenly attendants, Kongara-doji and Seitaka-doji, who kneel at his feet. This is an example of a benizuri-e, a "crimson" print usually rendered in shades of pink and green. Printed on tan paper to simulate an aged appearance. A striking image from the early years of color woodblock prints in a large format great for display.

Artist - Kiyonobu II (active circa 1720 - 1760)

Image Size - 16 5/8" x 11 3/8"

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Fold at corner, a few creases at edges. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
