Kansai's Album - Handsome complete book from a five volume series titled "Kansai's Album" (Kansai gafu) by Ichikawa Kansai , who was a student of Hokusai and whose work resembles his master's. Each volume features a variety of subjects, ranging from noblemen, beauties, and monks to landscapes, supernatural creatures, and animals. Nicely drawn with attractive line work, the black and gray illustrations are heightened with a warm peach tone.
This Complete Book - Published in 1893 (Meiji 26), Volume 4 of "Kansai's Album" includes 30 woodblock prints, in both single panel and diptych format. It features a traditional stab binding with a paper cover, front matter, and a colophon. An interesting group of designs, rare to find complete in the original format as published. A fun choice for a collector.
