Eisui (active circa 1790 - 1823) Japanese Woodblock Reprint
Shizuka of the Tamaya

Comments - Lovely okubi-e or large "head portrait" of the courtesan Shizuka of the Tamaya. She smiles as she looks ahead, holding a book in her hand. Her hair is pulled back into a large smooth bun with wings at the sides, adorned with a pink ribbon and many hairpins. The bold patterns of her kimono add a nice graphic impact. An attractive, classic Edo era beauty portrait.

Artist - Eisui (active circa 1790 - 1823)

Image Size - 15 1/8" x 10" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. A couple small marks, a few ripples at edge from printing process. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
