Original Omura Koyo (1891 - 1983) Japanese Woodblock Print
Pagoda at Nara, Winter

Comments - Handsome view of the pagoda at Nara in winter. A deer wanders along the shore of the pond at left, and willow branches hang gracefully over the water. A lovely night scene with a few snowflakes falling gently through the sky. Omura Koyo graduated from the Kyoto City Specialist School of Painting and studied with noted painter Takeuchi Seiho. Koyo did a series of woodblock prints of Kyoto that were published by Kyoto Hanga-in, but his works are rarely seen. A nice choice for a shin-hanga collector.

Publisher - Kyoto Hanga-in, publisher's seal in right margin

Artist - Omura Koyo (1891 - 1983)

Image Size - 15 3/8" x 10 1/2" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Slight paper remnants on reverse at right corners from previous mounting. Slight toning, a couple small spots, a couple small creases at corners. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
