Comments - Handsome kabuki portrait of Ichikawa Sadanji as a samurai in battle, drawing back his sword with both hands as shots streak past him. He wears a green floral tunic over a fine suit of armor, his sleeves and the ends of the white sash tied around his forehead fluttering around him. At upper left, troops in dark silhouette against the night sky continue fighting. Nicely composed, with fine bokashi shading in the background.
