Chinjufu-shogun Hidehira, 1858 - Handsome portrait of Hidehira, the Chinjufu-shogun or "Commander in Chief of the Defense of the North," a position responsible for Japan's defense against and the pacification of the indigenous Ainu of Hokkaido and northern Honshu. The Ainu were historically known as Ezu. He sits on a cushion dressed in elegant court robes, staring ahead with a stern expression, his sword on a stand behind him. A nicely detailed design with soft shading in the background.

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Backed with paper. A few wormholes, repaired. Slight toning and soiling. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
