Original Miyagawa Shuntei (1873 - 1914) Japanese Woodblock Print
November: Dressing

Series; Twelve Months of Beauties, 1898

November: Dressing - Lovely scene of attendants helping a beauty to dress as she stands before full-length mirror atop a red lacquer dressing table. She stands quietly, holding her long sleeves out of the way as a woman kneels behind her, tying a lavender print obi behind her back. At right, a young girl sits on the floor, carefully folding a delicately embossed white robe. She smiles as she looks back over her shoulder, dressed in a blue kimono bordered with a design of origami cranes and bamboo. Other kimono and obi hang from a black lacquer frame at right, including a dark purple sash patterned with blossoms and a white robe with an embossed diamond pattern. A charming subject, nicely detailed with burnishing on the hair, the lamp, and the black lacquer frame.

Artist - Miyagawa Shuntei (1873 - 1914)

Image Size - 14" x 27 5/8"

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Backed with paper. Faint vertical lines at sides of one panel. Light toning and spotting, slight offsetting. Please see photos for details.
