A Fuji Arts Special Offer Auction

Hiroshige's Gyosho Tokaido - After the incredible success of Hiroshige’s original Tokaido in the 1830s, the artist designed several other series illustrating life along the Tokaido road. Published around 1841 - 1844, the Gyosho Tokaido is so-named after the style of informal script (called gyosho) used in the title cartouche. Prints from this series are rarely seen, and make a nice complement to Hiroshige's more well-known Tokaido series.

Artist - Hiroshige (1797 - 1858)

Image Size - 7 5/8" x 12 3/8" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Remnants of paper hinge mounts on reverse at top corners from previous mounting. Vertical centerfold. Slight toning and soiling, a few creases, marks. Please see photos for details.
