Portrait of Santo Kyoden, the Master of Kyobashi - Fantastic portrait of the writer and playboy Santo Kyoden, smiling happily as he holds a pipe. He sits at a low table set with an ink stone, brush, and a blank fan, preparing to paint a design on it. A beautiful, sensitive rendering, this expressive portrait is considered one of the greatest of the Tokugawa period. A handsome design and a wonderful choice for a collector interested in classic ukiyo-e images. Seldom seen in reprint.
