Comments - Great kabuki scene from the joruri finale of the play "Akegarasu Yuki no Urazato." A joruri is a ballad drama accompanied by musicians. At left, Tokijiro has climbed over the courtyard fence to rescue his sweetheart, the courtesan Urazato, after her employers beat her at left her tied up in the snow. The beauty smiles as she looks up, while at right, the couple's daughter Midori holds a snow covered hat and roll of tissues. The musicians can be seen at upper right. From left, the actors are Nakamura Shikan IV, Sawamura Shozan (Sawamura Tanosuke III), and Bando Hyakunosuke. A striking design with large expressive figures and a handsome setting.

Image Size - 14" x 28"
