Comments - Attractive triptych depicting Prince Genji visiting a peony garden with several attendants. The young nobleman smiles happily as he looks over his shoulder, fanning himself. At right, a beauty spreads a cushion atop a bench for him, while a boy carries an ornate brazier or tobacco set. His sword bearer kneels at left, an upright weapon in one hand and a narrow cloth-covered parcel in the other. Oversize peony blossoms fill the background, view a view of a deep blue lake beyond, and a stone lantern and willow tree at left. The Boston Museum of Fine Arts has this image in its collection. A handsome design.
