Knocking an Enemy to the Ground

Series; The New Biography of Toyotomi Hideyoshi (Shinsen Taikoki), 1883

Knocking an Enemy to the Ground - Dramatic scene of a warrior on horseback knocking an enemy to the ground with his spear. He leans over the side of his mount as the horse rears on its hind legs, a determined expression on his face. The fallen enemy thrusts his own spear under the animal's legs as he sprawls on the ground, his legs kicking in the air behind him. At right another samurai attacks an adversary on foot. A terrific composition with beautiful detail and handsome wood grain impression on the horse. A very striking design.
