Nijubashi, 1893 - Lovely portrait of a beauty crossing the famous Nijubashi or Niju Bridge, from the Imperial Palace, the fortress rendered in soft tones in the background. She looks down with a happy smile, holding her sleeve to her cheek, an umbrella in her other hand. Beautifully detailed with embossed lines to indicate the folds of the black kimono and burnishing on the hair. A charming Meiji era beauty portrait.
