Series; The New Eight Best Scenery of Japan

The New Eight Best Scenery of Japan - Fantastic chuban-sized version of a Hasui series originally published by Bijutsusha in the late 1920s. These striking prints feature beautiful views of traditional Japanese landscapes, rendered with fine detail, sophisticated color, and soft bokashi shading like the originals. This rare chuban set was issued in 1974 by the Ukiyo-e Hanga Publishing Society. Lifetime, oban impressions of these subjects are extremely rare, so these smaller versions are a wonderful opportunity to acquire a lovely Hasui design.

Taisho Pond, Kamikochi, circa 1927 - Serene winter view of Taisho Pond in Kamikochi. Snow falls quietly over the water, blanketing the trees and shore and forming a striking contrast with the rich blue and green of the pond. A striking subject, beautifully colored.
