Sawamura Tossho II as Hachizo, 1868

Comments - Interesting kabuki portrait of Sawamura Tossho II as the commoner Hachizo, looking to the side with worried grimace. He holds the back of his plaid kimono over his shoulders, worn over a black undergarment and tied around his waist with a rope. His hair is pulled back into a thick knot at the back of his head. A large expressive figure set off by a deep blue night sky.

Artist - Kunichika (1835 - 1900)

Image Size - 13 3/4" x 9 1/4"

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Slight soiling. Please see photos for details. Nice overall.
