Castle in Flames, 1847 - 1852

Comments - Dramatic scene of a castle on fire during a battle, great flames and clouds of gray smoke issuing over the walls of the fortress, with troops entering through the gate to attack. In the foreground, a warrior on a black horse thrusts his sword out behind him as his mount gallops ahead, trampling an enemy under its hooves. The samurai uses a tiger skin as a saddle blanket, and his armor is pierced with arrows. An intriguing image, nicely detailed.
