Original Nishimura Hodo (active 1930s) Japanese Woodblock Print
Golden Pheasant

Comments - Striking kacho-e or birds and flowers design of a colorful golden pheasant perched on a rock framed by bamboo and pink begonias. The soft peach background creates a nice contrast to the more vivid colors of the feathers and foliage. A nice choice for display. Please note that this print bears several red seals reading "Kiyochika" and "Kobayashi Kiyochika," the name of a Meiji era artist. We do not know when or why these were applied.

Publisher - Takemura Hideo

Artist - Nishimura Hodo (active 1930s)

Image Size - 14 3/8" x 9 3/8"

Condition - This print with excellent colors and detail as shown. Small tear at edge, repaired. Slight creasing at edges, a few spots. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
