A Fuji Arts Special Offer Auction

Murasaki Shikibu - Lovely image of the famed 11th century poet Lady Murasaki leaning over a scroll, studying it intently. Known for her beauty and intelligence, she authored "The Tale of Genji," considered by many as the greatest Japanese novel. She holds her long black hair back with one hand as she pores over the writing. Reading late at night by the light of a small oil lamp on a bamboo tripod, she is huddled under a heavy purple quilt, beautifully patterned with pine sprigs and scroll designs. A charming portrait of this elegant woman caught during a private moment. Beautiful detail in her flowing hair.
