Carp beneath Wisteria, 1889 by Yoshitoshi (1839 - 1892)

Original Yoshitoshi (1839 - 1892) Japanese Woodblock Print
Carp beneath Wisteria, 1889

Comments - Lovely Yoshitoshi design of carp swimming beneath blossoming wisteria vines. Softly shaded sweeping blue lines suggest the current swirling around the fish as they move near the surface of the water. A beautiful, striking design, wonderfully composed. The first time we've offered this subject.

Artist - Yoshitoshi (1839 - 1892)

Image Size - 13 3/4" x 28 1/4" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Three separate panels. Slight separation at ends of vertical folds at edge of each panel, large tear across corner, smaller tears, a few holes, repaired. A few pinpoint holes. Toning, slight soiling, a few creases and spots. Please see photos for details.
