Original Yoshiiku (1833 - 1904) Japanese Woodblock Print

Series; Twelve Months in the Yoshiwara, 1869

August - Attractive portrait of the courtesan Shizuka of the Matsumotoro preparing to go out for the evening. She wears a pink kimono patterned with delicate purple blossoms and tiny green leaves, tied with a green brocade obi. Her child apprentice kneels beside her on the red floral carpeting. A servant waits outside holding a paper lantern and a walking staff with a ringed finial called a shakujou. A handsome design with fine bokashi shading in the night sky.

Image Size - 13 1/8" x 8 5/8" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Horizontal centerfold. A few small holes and thinning spots, repaired. Slight toning, a few light creases and stains. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
