Hiroshi Gima - Born in Okinawa Prefecture in 1923, Hiroshi Gima is an award-winning painter and woodblock print artist. He is perhaps best known for his children's books featuring colorful woodblock illustrations, many of which relate to his beloved Okinawa. His childlike images have a charming appeal, with bold black line work and attractive color. Original woodblock prints by Hiroshi Gima are quite rare. This black and white print features hand coloring by the artist. Pencil-signed "H. Gima" with red artist's seal and titled in Japanese in bottom margin. A great chance to purchase contemporary Japanese image by this noted artist from Okinawa.
