Comparison of Beauties and Flowers - Lovely design from Gekko's series "Comparison of Beauties and Flowers," which consists of twenty-four prints first issued in 1887. Each design features a beautiful woman in a setting that includes a specific flower or plant, rendered in Gekko's painterly style. These attractive designs are beautifully printed with fine line work and soft shading, and many include deluxe embellishments such as embossing or burnishing. These popular designs continued to be printed, with dates up to 1899 known. A charming series featuring classic beauty subjects.

Special detail - Red-orange pigment on the pants that has oxidized to a dark tone.

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Stitching holes at side, repaired. Slight toning and soiling, a few creases and marks. Please see photos for details.
