Setting Birds Free; Visiting an Iris Garden

Comments - Attractive uncut woodblock print featuring two chuban scenes of beauties from daily life. The top scene shows beauties and a young girl freeing birds from a cage, a pious Buddhist practice. Below, a young nobleman and several women enjoy a garden pond with irises and koi fish from a wooden walkway that crosses over the water. Beautifully detailed, with an attractive red border of cranes in flight, and burnishing on the black kimono.
