A Fuji Arts Special Offer Auction

Tsuchiya Koitsu - After moving to Tokyo at age fifteen, Koitsu studied for many years with the woodblock artist Kobayashi Kiyochika. Known for his beautiful landscape prints with a dramatic use of light and shade, Koitsu was one of the leaders of the shin-hanga or new print movement in 20th century Japan.

Ueno Park, 1939 - Charming design of a geisha at the end of a bridge in Ueno Park as evening falls, a temple spire rising out of the twilight across the water. The rays of the setting sun illuminate the edges of the cherry tree with a soft golden glow, the delicate blossoms beautifully framing the view of the opposite shoreline. A beautiful, peaceful spring landscape with wonderful soft shading in the sky and shimmering reflections in the water.
