Carp Swimming, circa 1901 - 1925

Comments - Handsome image of carp swimming, gliding beneath the ripples on the surface of the water, a few fronds of seaweed drifting past. The scales of the fish in the foreground are beautifully detailed, and the water is softly colored with fine bokashi shading. The Chazen Museum of Art has this image in its collection, and does not attribute it to Hiroshige. A lovely aizuri-e design in the style of Hiroshige.
