Takashima Ohisa

Comments - Lovely portrait of the beauty Takashima Ohisa in formal kimono holding a round fan, smiling as she looks back over her shoulder. She looks back over her shoulder with a smile, wearing a sheer black patterned kimono over a mauve colored under robe, tied with a green obi with a design of birds in flight. A classic beauty print by Utamaro with fine line work in the hair and a shimmering mica background. An original label and seal on the reverse indicates that this print was published by the National Museum, the name of the Tokyo National Museum from 1947 - 1952. The museum commissioned high quality reprints of many of the ukiyo-e masterworks in its collection.
