Beauty in a Kimono

Comments - Classic Utamaro "large head print" of a young beauty holding a dish of salt, the salt formed in the shape of Mt. Fuji. A stunning example of Utamaro's mastery of the beauty print. The young beauty looks down, hair pinned high with multiple combs, with a charming playful expression. An exquisite design. This Meiji printing is printed in aizuri-e, a blue ink that was considered precious and a rare lovely variant in wood block printing. The aizuri-e prints are in blue tones only and favorite print collecting field for many collectors. They are rare impressions and highly sought after in the market. A beautiful old reprint with a lovely sense of age, perfect for display.
