Comments - Attractive view of two plovers flying above a crashing wave as it curls back over itself. A full moon glows in the sky, with a verse written below the birds. The poem reads:
Conniving in pairs,
at midnight hear the plovers
piping endlessly.
There are at least two other versions of this lovely Hiroshige design, one with a larger moon and another without a moon. A classic kacho-e or birds and flowers subject by Hiroshige, seldom seen in reprint.
Artist - Hiroshige (1797 - 1858)
Image Size - 12 3/4" x 4 1/2"
Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Horizontal fold, a few light creases. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
