Beauty in a Heron Kimono, 1878

Comments - Interesting kabuki portrait of a beauty staring at a tobacco pouch or purse in her hand, frowning angrily. She wears a purple kimono with a scene of pink herons flying above the grasses along a river over a red under robe, tied with a plaid obi. Her hair is slightly disheveled, with loose hairs framing her face. The figure is set off by a deep red background, and the text panel takes the form of two books at upper left, one of them folded open. A great expressive figure, detailed with fine line work in the hair.

Artist - Kunichika (1835 - 1900)

Image Size - 14" x 9 1/2" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. A few creases. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
