Comments - Terrific image Koreans paying tribute to the legendary Japanese Empress Jingu during her conquest of Korea in the third century. She sits in a chair in a pavilion at right, surrounded by her retainers, as three Korean men bow respectfully on the terrace at left. A low reed lacquer table is piled high with treasures, including elegant vases and containers, rolls of silk, a large coral branch, and gleaming white gems. A small stand nearby holds a bundle of rolled up tiger skins. The terrace overlooks a view of the sea framed by a pine tree, and the windows of the pavilion are an unusual shape. A fascinating subject with wonderful detail, including burnishing on the black lacquer railing and tabletop.
