Traditional Japanese New Year's Greetings Cards - This charming collection of rare Japanese woodblock postcards dates from before WWII. These terrific subjects are all New Year's greeting cards featuring the Zodiac animal for the coming year. Sending greetings for the New Year is a popular Japanese custom that continues today. As 2019 is the Year of the Pig, we've chosen this group of pig postcards to celebrate the New Year! A fun choice to collect.

Artist - Shin-hanga & Modern era artist (unsigned or not read)

Image Size - 3 1/2" x 5 1/2"

Condition - With excellent color and detail as shown. Slight toning, some have slight soiling or a couple creases. Some postcards are blank (unused), while some others have writing on the reverse or stamps with cancellation marks dating to the year 10, which could be either Taisho 10 (1921) or Showa 10 (1935). Please see photos for details. Generally in good to nice condition overall.
