Commander Minamoto no Yoritomo at a Gathering of His Vanguard in His Conquest of the Taira with the Rivalry of Sasaki and Kajiwara, 1843 - 1846 - Great depiction of Commander Minamoto no Yoritomo at a gathering of his vanguard in an elegant mansion. The daimyo stands on a platform in the center as he addresses his men, surrounded by kneeling retainers and a page holding his sword. On the floor below, men wearing court robes and caps sit on either side of an offering tray with a sake cup on it and a long-handled ceremonial sake server on the floor nearby. At lower left, a samurai in a reddish vest gestures angrily with his fan, pointing it across the room. The men exchange angrily glares and grimaces across the room, while warriors in armor watch from behind the curtains on either side of the room. An intriguing historic subject with a handsome setting, nicely detailed.
