Original Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864) Japanese Woodblock Print
Samurai in a Dragon Kamishimo, 1847 - 1852

Comments - Handsome kabuki scene of a samurai cradling a child or an object wrapped in red cloth to his chest. He leans forward slightly with his feet spread apart, his brows furrowed and a tight-lipped frown on his face. He wears a striking black kamishimo patterned with dragons and clouds, the pants bordered with stylized waves. The corner of a shabby building with a large hole in the plaster can be seen at upper right, with a blossoming plum tree beyond. An interesting subject.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 13 3/4" x 9 3/4"

Condition - This print with good color and detail as shown. Horizontal centerfold. Small tear, hole, repaired. Slight toning, creasing, and soiling. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
