Maple Viewing, 1854

Comments - Handsome scene of people enjoying an outing to view the changing colors of the maple trees in autumn. At lower left, a young girl looks up as she watches a princess and her attendants cross a bridge over a winding river below. The expensive red orange pigment uses on the leaves has oxidized to a dark tone. An attractive design with an interesting perspective.
