Complete Book with 12 Woodblock Prints of Birds, 1896 - Attractive book featuring 12 woodblock prints of birds by various Meiji era artists. The subjects include a heron, Java sparrows, quail, pigeons, sparrows, chickens, a mallard duck, and other birds in their natural habitats. Many images include blossoming flowers or shrubs. These charming designs are nicely detailed and colored. The paper covers are hand-painted with silver and gold metallic pigment on the front cover, and the book is bound with green cord. A handsome group in an interesting format, dated Meiji 29 (1896).

Size - Each image 8 7/8" x 6 5/8"; overall size 10 1/4" x 7 5/8" x 1/8"
Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Creasing, slight toning and soiling, slight rubbing at edges. A few prints have small stains at corners. Two prints have small losses at edges. One print heavily stained. Front cover has horizontal fold. Please see photos for details.
