Ichimura Uzaemon as a Samurai Surprised by a Supernatural Mist, 1863

Comments - Interesting kabuki portrait of Ichimura Uzaemon as a samurai surprised by a ghostly gray mist emanating from beneath the eaves of a building. He looks up with a grimace as he draws his sword, resting on one knee. He may be a ronin, since his hair has grown out atop his head and his hair is pulled sloppily into a knot at the side rather than the traditional topknot. He wears a solid color kimono tied with a light blue print obi, a blue and white dotted towel wrapped about his neck. An intriguing subject with a nicely detailed setting.

Artist - Kunisada II (1823 - 1880)

Image Size - 14" x 9 1/2" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Horizontal centerfold. Slight toning and soiling, a few creases, a few stains at edge. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
