by Kuniyoshi (1797 - 1861)
Comments - Incredible triptych depicting Kusunoki Masatsura's troops crossing a pontoon bridge over the Nagara River on the way to the Battle of Nagaragawa in 1347. Dressed in full armor and battle helmets, the warriors march across the structure carrying shields and spears, with banners and tasseled standards fluttering in the breeze. The floating bridge curves around in a sweeping arc as it moves gently downstream with the current. A fantastic panoramic view of the river and the mountains beyond. Beautiful detail in the armor and weapons. A striking design and a great subject for a collector interested in the samurai tradition.
