Series; Set of Delicate Ladies of Our Country

Shizuka-gozen, circa 1845 - Lovely portrait of Shikuza-gozen, a dancer who became the mistress of the famous warrior Minamoto no Yoshitsune. She smiles sweetly as she looks over her shoulder, holding one sleeve to her chest. She wears a blue kimono patterned with pink blossoms over a red under robe, tied with a black obi. Rows of softly shaded clouds in violet and orange run across the background. A beautiful design. The first time we've offered a subject from this rarely seen Kuniyoshi beauty series.

Artist - Kuniyoshi (1797 - 1861)

Image Size - 14 3/8" x 10"

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Small tear at edge, repaired. Two horizontal folds. Slight soiling, a few creases and small spots. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
