Untitled series of views of Mt. Fuji
Hiroshige's Views of Mt. Fuji - Beautiful design from an untitled illustrated book of twenty views of Mt. Fuji by Hiroshige that was published in 1858. In the original preface to the series, Hiroshige stated that he wanted to eliminate unnecessary details so that the focus would be on the sacred mountain itself, rather than the people, customs, or plants and wildlife in the scene. Never originally released as single prints, this handsome reprint series provides these lovely designs in full oban format. Soft colors and sweeping views characterize these attractive images, rarely seen in reprint.
A Note from Bill - I was excited to find this terrific series recently in Tokyo. We’ve only had these prints once before at Fuji Arts. The views of Fuji, absent signs of development, really capture the majesty of Japan’s sacred mountain. I hope you enjoy shopping this collection as much as we’ve enjoyed it in the office
