Eastern Genji: The Wakana Chapter, 1854

Comments - Attractive illustration from the "Wakana" chapter of the famous "Tale of Genji," showing young boys play hand ball in the garden, as the young courtier Kashiwagi and his companion watch from the verandah behind them. At upper right, a curious kitten on a leash climbs a wooden post. Blossoming cherry trees frame the scene. A charming design with a nicely detailed setting.

Image Size - 13 3/4" x 9 7/8"

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Small thinning spot, repaired. Slight toning, soiling, and creasing, a few spots. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
