Descending Geese at Katada, 1847 - 1852 - Attractive view of Prince Genji and beauties along the edge of the water, admiring the glowing full moon overhead. The young nobleman looks up from his letter, smiling happily, wearing a beautiful kimono shaded from light tan to yellow with a design of pink and blue hydrangeas. At right, a small girl waves excitedly, the beauty behind her looking down at her affectionately. A line of geese is silhouetted against the evening sky as the birds descend for the night. A beautiful night scene with soft bokashi shading in the water and sky. Includes embossing on the blue kimono collar and the white kimono trim. Also in the collection of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.
