The Battle of Mt. Komaki

Comments - Dramatic depiction of the fierce Battle of Komaki on Mt. Komaki between the forces of Toyotomi Hideyoshi and Tokugawa Ieyasu. In the center, a warrior on horseback gallops across the battlefield, gripping his spear with both hands as he sends enemies tumbling backwards to the ground. At left, a general on a black horse turns to look back over his shoulder as he rides , waving a riding crop above his head. Shots streak across the scene and clouds of smoke billow up into the sky. Fighting continues at upper right, and the banners and standards of approaching troops can be seen at upper left beyond the smoke. A great, dynamic design.

Artist - Yoshitora (active circa 1840 - 1880)
