Original Hiroshige (1797 - 1858) Japanese Woodblock Print
Hara

Series; Fifty-three Stations of the Tokaido (Figure or Jimbutsu Tokaido)
A Fuji Arts Special Offer Auction

Hiroshige's Figure Tokaido - In 1832 Hiroshige traveled with an entourage of the shogun's officials from Edo (Tokyo) to Kyoto along the Tokaido road. His journey led him to produce many different series based on this often traveled and famous route. This wonderful edition designed in 1852, called the Figure or Jimbutsu Tokaido, features large format figures set against the natural beauty of the landscape. It's an intriguing series, since Hiroshige's other Tokaido groups focus primarily on nature, rather than on man. These fantastic original Hiroshige woodblocks offer a different perspective of life along the Tokaido, with beauties and samurai encountering farmers, peasants, and vendors along the road. Take advantage of this great opportunity to add an original Hiroshige print to your collection at a low opening bid price!
