Original Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864) Japanese Woodblock Print
Concerned Beauty and Alarmed Man, 1847 - 1852

Comments - Interesting kabuki scene of a couple in a shabby interior, the beauty leaning forward with a concerned expression as the bearded man throws his hands out in alarm. He stares ahead with a grimace, a mirror lying on the floor before him. At left, red flames and smoke rise from a fire in a floor hearth. Strange outcropping s of rock with what look like yellow icicles or stalactites frame the room at the top corners, and the wall near top center is cracked and missing plaster. An intriguing image with expressive figures.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 13 3/4" x 19 1/8" + top margin as shown

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Two separate panels, backed with paper. Slight toning and soiling, a few creases and marks, a few small lightly rubbed spots. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
