Comments - Lovely triptych depicting the arrival of a young bride at Prince Genji's palace. She smiles shyly as an attendant takes her by the hand to help her from the palanquin, dressed in a delicately embossed pink kimono. Other women kneel respectfully, looking up with eager smiles, several lanterns flickering on the floor nearby. The nobleman waits patiently at left, a sword bearer at his side holding his weapon upright. Fantastic detail in the elegant palanquin and interior furnishings, which include a folding screen patterned with plum blossoms at left and sliding panels with cranes and pines, with additional embossing on the white kimono collars and trim. The Boston Museum of Fine Arts has this image in its collection.
