Series; Kyosai Rakuga (Kyosai's Drawings for Pleasure)

Kyosai Rakuga - Attractive image from the series "Kyosai Rakuga" (Kyosai's Drawings for Pleasure). These charming designs feature a wide range of subjects from nature, including flowers, insects, fish, and animals. From mischievous monkeys and a fox playing with a turtle to still-lifes of fish and flowers, these handsome illustrations are drawn with lively, calligraphic brushwork enhanced with soft color. Kyosai depicted what appealed to him as an artist, capturing the beauty and humor of the world around.

Image Size - 7 1/2" x 10 1/8" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Slight paper remnants on reverse at corners from previous mounting. Slight separation at end of vertical centerfold, small V-shaped tear, slight thinning at edge, repaired. A few creases. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
