The Manji Era (1658 - 1661) - Lovely portrait of a beauty of the Manji era, looking over her shoulder at a pleasure boat glides past. She watches with interest as musicians perform for the passengers in the boat, two boatmen pushing the craft along the calm water. Her hair is pulled into a large loop at the back of her head with long hair flowing over her shoulders, short bangs framing her face. She wears a white kimono patterned with stylized blossoms and tie-dyed shapes, a round and with a floral design in her lap. Through the sheer green mosquito netting behind her, the silhouette of another boat can be seen at left. A beautiful design, detailed with burnishing on the hair, delicate cloth embossing on the white kimono, and soft bokashi shading in the water and sky.
