These celebrated beauties are shown in scenes from daily life, with an inset cartouche filled with text detailing their virtues. From peasants and princesses to courtesans and women warriors, these lovely portraits are beautifully detailed and colored. A terrific Kuniyoshi series that is not often seen.

The Maid Take-jo - Terrific design of the maid Take-jo scattering grain to feed the birds. She smiles happily as she goes about her task, a striped apron tied over her blue kimono. Blue and white towels are hung up to dry on the wall behind her, along with a large pan that seems to form a halo around her head. A charming portrait with a nicely detailed setting.
