Spring Scenery of Tidal Flats, 1855

Comments - Charming panoramic scene of a lively afternoon at the beach during low tide. At left a young boy and girl carry a bamboo pole between them strung with a fish and a basket of clams, while the beauty ahead of them holds a pipe and pipe case. At right, a woman gathers clams to add to her full basket, while behind her, and a man is comically attacked by a stingray. A terrific spring view with wonderful detail and soft bokashi shading in the sky and ground.
