Beauty Watching a Cuckoo

Comments - Lovely scene of a beauty on a verandah watching as a cuckoo flies through the sky. She smiles as she looks over her shoulder, shielding her eyes with her hand. She wears a striped kimono over a red under robe, tied with a geometric print obi with large blossoms, a plectrum or pick for a shamisen tucked under the sash. A sliding shoji window opens to the room inside, where a black lacquer shamisen case rests on the floor. A beautiful Edo era beauty design, nicely composed and detailed.

Artist - Kuniyasu (1794 - 1832)

Image Size - 14 1/2" x 9 5/8"

Condition - This print with good color and excellent detail as shown. Horizontal centerfold. A few wormholes, repaired. Slight soiling, slight rubbing at edges. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
